Yesterday, we celebrated a key milestone for our Moray West offshore wind project: the load out of the second of two Offshore Susbstation Platforms (OSPs) has been completed.

We are proud to announce that these OSPs are the first to be fabricated within the UK for several years, manufactured at Smulders yard in Wallsend, once again demonstrating the potential of our sector to create socioeconomic opportunities across the country.

We were delighted to welcome Lord Lennie, Labour’s Shadow Energy Security & Net Zero spokesperson, at the event, who joined representatives from OW Ocean Winds, Siemens Energy, and Smulders to mark this key occasion.

Pete Geddes, Moray West Project Director, said: “I am proud that the collective efforts of the Moray West team, working closely and safely with our suppliers, has played a key role in maintaining the pipeline of projects through the Smulders yard here in Wallsend, as well as strengthening the capabilities of the Siemens Energy team around their proven OTM technology. This is a key milestone on our construction journey to ensure the transmission assets are fully commissioned in time for planned first power from the wind turbines next year.”
