Moray West Supply Chain

Moray West is committed to supporting the Scottish and UK supply chain and proud of our work in close partnership with the private and public sector to ensure that opportunities are realised. Key successes have been:

  • All 180 turbine blades manufactured at the expanded Siemens Gamesa factory in Hull;
  • Two complex large foundation components – ‘J-tube cages’ – fully fabricated by Global Energy at Nigg Energy Park;
  • All inter-array cables manufactured by JDR on Teesside;
  • Both offshore substation topsides fabricated at the Smulders yard on the Tyne;
  • Supporting continuity of project pipeline at Port of Nigg and Port of Cromarty Firth, Invergordon with lay down, marshalling and pre-assembly work

We are involved in a range of activities to develop a new offshore wind supply chain in the Scotland, this will help to ensure that the project is delivered as competitively as possible.

This includes:

  • Leadership of the DeepWind offshore wind cluster
  • Ensuring we have an excellent understanding of the supply chain
  • Identifying opportunities to support innovation
  • Contributing to skills readiness

We have worked proactively with our main contractors to maximise opportunities for local content in the project including through hosting Meet the Buyer events to engage local suppliers.
